The Mahogany Poetry Reading features poets of various races, styles, and backgrounds from across the globe. Every Wednesday night at Jamaica House Restaurant, 1704 Broadway, the group Supercaliflowlinguistic (Sacramento's first ever slam team) run the venue which has had such success over the last nine months and runs primarily off word of mouth advertisement. Artists from all over the country have called and inquired about the Mahogany poetry reading. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. with DJ Supe spinning jazz and classics, open mic starts at around 10:20 p.m. Cover is $5. Jamaica House offers drink and dinner specials to all guests on Wednesdays.
